About Paul Roybal

A lifelong technologist, community voice, and creative explorer

For nearly fifty years I have been guided by one idea: technology should empower people. My journey began in the early days of computing at the State of New Mexico Metropolitan Court, where I built custom software solutions to help public institutions work more efficiently. That passion for practical innovation led me to serve as Chief Information Officer for Bernalillo County, managing an eight million dollar budget and a team of more than eighty professionals dedicated to serving the community through smarter systems and digital transformation.

Today I combine that foundation with a lifelong curiosity about how art, artificial intelligence, and storytelling intersect. I am currently pursuing advanced studies in computer science and information systems, developing projects that include AI driven web applications and databases for nonprofit organizations that make a real difference in New Mexico. Currently I am finishing a degree in IT at Eastern New Mexico University. This fall I will be attending New Mexico State University in pursuit of a Masters Degree in Information Technology.

When I am not designing systems you will often find me on air at 89.1 KANW FM sharing the rich sounds of New Mexico music, or photographing desert skies and architecture across the Southwest. Whether it is coding, broadcasting, or crafting metal art, my work is always rooted in connection-connecting people to technology, ideas, and one another.
